Connors State College Athletic Department has named Jaylen Thompson as Head Womens basketball coach.Thompson will enters his first season as head coach of the cowgirls.

 

Thompson comes to CSC after four years coaching at Tulsa East Central High School, a public (5A) high school in Tulsa Oklahoma. In his four years at East Central Coach Thompson led the Lady Cardinals to very respectable seasons. His best year coming in 2022-23 where he double his win total. Coach Thompson grew a struggle high school program from 6 players in his first season to 19 players by year four. 

 

Coach Thompson also coached mens for one season at Bethel College where he also finished his playing career. During his time at Bethel, Thompson was in charge of guard player development for Varsity and Head Reserves coach. In the 2019-2020 season, the Thresher won 20 games and made it to the conference tournament for the first time since 2008. In that same season the Thresher would go on to win thier first tournament game in 10 years. The Threshers also achieved its most wins in a season since 2004-05 season which was led by Head Coach Jayson Artaz. Thompson also went 14-2 in conference play against the other KCAC Reserve teams. 

 

Thompson played at Bethel College where he was a point guard. Before Bethel, Thompson attended Southern Nazarene (DII) in Bethany Oklahoma. Thompson graduated from high school in 2013 where he attended East Central High School and was apart of the 2012 State Runner-UP basketball team. 

 

Coach Thompson also has strong ties to AAU basketball community as he previously held the position of Assistant Director for Team Trae Young who was a member of 3SSB circuit. He was also Head Coach for 17U and 16U National teams, helping girls recieve offers from multiple college programs. Coach Thompson has also coached AAU for 7 seasons including in Kansas where he founded his own program Kansas Grind Elite. He has help over 25 young athletes recieve scholarships for college at every level.

 

Thompson and his wife Megan, have 3 daughters: Paighton, Parker and Presley. Thompson graduated from Bethel College with his bachelors degree in Social Work.
