At the halfway point in the inaugural season for the Connors State Cowgirls soccer team, the team finds itself competing for wins but struggling to get over the hill. The team finds itself with an 0-11 record going into the second half of conference play. Although the Cowgirls are still looking for their first win, the team is not without some massive events for the program. The first official goal in Cowgirls soccer history was scored by freshman winger Aurora Serna on September 6th against Redlands. Another major accolade came in week 4 when Taylor Moore was named Regional Player of the Week for her 2 goals in games against NEO and Crowder College. Stat leaders for the first half of the season for goals are Taylor Moore with 3, then Kinley Catron, Aurora Serna, Evelyn Vazquez, and Emily Christensen all on 1 goal each. Taylor Moore, Aurora Serna, and Mackenzie Morton each have 1 assist so far on the year.
"At the halfway point of the season I feel we are in a good spot for a first year program. We have had some games that we are in and we have taken steps forward each week. This team has laid down a great foundation for the Women's Soccer team for many years to come. The leadership that has come from our captains, Sahra Khajavi and Litzy Garcia-Diaz, has been great and the team is continuing to grow each day. Although the results haven't come yet, I know this group is moving in a positive direction and I am proud of the work that they have put in up to this point." -Head Coach Adam Skolnick
