Cowboys Dominate Pioneers from Start to Finish

Warner, OK- The Connors State Cowboys continued their march through the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference with victory over Western Oklahoma State Thursday night at Melvin Self Fieldhouse.

With super soph Bradyn Hubbard playing under the weather and held scoreless in the first half, the rest of the team stepped up with smothering defense and enough offense to register a 97-67 win over the Pioneers. Freshman Khamani Cooper tossed in three treys and had 11 first half points as did sophomore Donyae Mae, Tony Green added 12 in the first half, and Westville freshman Buddy Hammer had eight points and controlled the boards as Connors rolled out to a 21-8 lead eight minutes into the game and Western was never able to get inside 10 points the rest of the way. Connors led at halftime 44-31.

Hubbard helped spark the Cowboys in the second half as he ended up with 14 points-one of five Cowboys in double figures.

"I'm really proud of the way we played," said Connors coach Bill Muse. "We really guarded people well again tonight. Tony Green played exceptionally well as did Mae and Hammer and Hubbard gutted it out to contribute in the second half."

Green was the leading scorer for the Cowboys (21-2, 8-1 OCAC) with 20 points followed by Mae and Cooper with 19 each, Hammer had 17 and Hubbard 14. Chang Hoth was the leading scorer for Western (17-5, 5-4 OCAC) with 27 points.

After playing a hectic two-week schedule, Connors gets a couple of days rest before it travels to Seminole for the next action on Monday.
